It has been one month since the installation of the mini split system. This is an A/C and heat system. It can come with A/C only but I wanted to be rid of that Hydronic heater that is noisy and prone to leaks. I have not used it every day but I do use the bedroom unit every night. My electric bill has only risen about $14 since the install. I do expect it to be higher if we get some long lasting hot weather but estimating if I used it 24 / 7 my bill would be under $100. Numerous companies make these systems and many companies install them. I used Climate Air Masters (714) 533-0402. They gave me the best price and our neighbor Brett Dull works for them. I found a company called Appliance Masters of Southern California which seems to be able to factory service all of my different branded kitchen appliances. I use to have to call this guy for the refrigerator and that guy for the stove and so forth. As certified repair representative, they waste little time in repairs and charge a reasonable price. They even accommodate a request to call me a half an hour prior to their visit so I could take off work to meet them. They service Bosch, Viking, Gaggenau, Thermadore, Fisher&Paykel, DCS, Sub Zero, just to mention a few. On the downside , they do not service the popular brands Frigidaire, Whirlpool, GE or MayTag. When my toilet wouldn't flush, Rick the Happy Plumber was recommended to me. So I decided to hire him since I had such a terrible experience with ProServe the last time I needed one. He was on time, worked quickly, and found another problem with my tank leaking as well which he was able to repair. With replacing certain parts as well as repairing the tank leak, he only charged $105.00 which included a senior citizen discount. He was here 45 minutes to an hour. I have use Manny (Ace Garage Door Service) for several years with three garage door incidents. He charges a fair price, but what is more important is his responsive. I give Manny real points for coming on Super Bowl Sunday to fix my garage door which was preventing me from removing my car. The management company didn’t have any information regarding the heater. ProStar said they didn’t work on our type of heaters. I had 4 Pals order me a new heater. They said it was one unit, coil and motor. However, the tech said they ordered a coil because they don’t do motors. They said my coil was fine and did not require to be replaced. So I contacted Anaheim Heating & Air Conditioning. 1418 S. Central Park Ave Anaheim, CA 92802 (714) 772-9699 They charge $90 for the 1st half hour and $25 for every subsequent 15 minutes. They removed my heater and ordered a new motor. I’m satisfied with their work and my heater is working fine. The motor was a FASCO D178 and the bracket was FASCO FM50. You need to get the new bracket, the original does not fit the new motor. I paid $341 for the motor and bracket. I paid $140 for the labor. $481 total cost. I googled the motor and saw it for $105 - $179, the bracket was $16. Doing it yourself could save money. Recap: Motor FASCO D178 Bracket FASCO FM50.
