Dining Around Harbour Vista
The smell of crisp bacon permeates the air even through the protections of a Covid mask. Plexiglass partitions sequester diners for their safety, but the transparency of the dividers still gives the opportunity to scope out fellow patrons’ meals and give food for thought for future visits, because at Green Street Café the menu seems endless in its variety and the cuisine is definitely tasty. While the pandemic has changed dining, there are some restaurants who make the best of things and this local haunt is certainly worth checking out for breakfast, brunch or lunch.
Expect a Wait
Be forewarned when dining at the Green Street Café that you can expect a wait. The good old fashioned American cuisine diner is usually packed, and despite offering indoor and outdoor seating, the word is out that this is a great early morning or mid-day restaurant. The aptly titled Green Street Special is a steal at $9.95 for 3 eggs any style with choice bacon, sausage or ham, as well as 2 pancakes toast and a side. For $2.95 extra you can substitute a waffle or French toast and the meal comes with a wide choice of side dishes. To add variety there are a multitude of pancakes to choose from for a slight extra charge, including chocolate chip, PB&J, and the excellent blueberry, which are juicy and melt in your mouth.
Plentiful Assortment
For heavier fare, there are crab cakes, salads and a wide assortment of sandwiches. The good, strong-brewed coffee can help you start your morning with a hearty dose of caffeine and the fact that this restaurant is walking distance from Harbour Vista at 4911 Warner makes this place a must check out for a morning meal. ■
