Pet of the Month
Camilla the Thrilla
New to the neighborhood is Camilla. She is a Border Collie/ Australian Shepherd crossbreed and is five months old. She was born on a small farm with five siblings in the litter exposed to cats and other animals . Although sweet and affectionate, she can be a challenge with an abundance of energy. She loves meal time and will do anything for a treat. Now that she is getting older, we are looking forward to going hiking and to dog beach. If there were sheep or cattle to herd, that would be great.
Camilla Loves People and Playing with Dogs
She loves snuggling with excitement to see anyone. She can be a pest to some dogs with her constant playing, but with the right playmate, she is as happy as can be.
Dog Parks are Her Big Hangout
She can be seen running around in our dog park at Harbour Vista and more playmates at Wieder Park. ■

Leo Loves the Outdoors
Meet Leonard, Leo for short. He is a five year old Poodle/Pomeranian/Jack Russell mix. The owner found him on Craig's List. He came from a litter of five and he instantly charmed his new owner. Maybe not your typical outdoor dog type, but Leo has embraced his owners interests in off roading, camping and loves the outdoors particularly when taken to Dog Beach. He does not mind the water and is always ready to jump in.
Loves People
Leo loves people, but is not quite sure about other dogs as early in his life, he had two bad experience. But when it come to food, he is all in for carrots and an occasional pepperoni slice.
Bright Out There
When his owner takes him camping or off roading, Leo is prepared with his own sunglasses. He loves to ride in the Jeep. At the Beach, he sports his own floating jacket.  ■

Bayla – My Wizard of Oz Dog
New Harbour Vista resident Bayla Lucy Smith is a crazy Cairn terrier. Cairn terriers are intelligent, loyal, family pets that adapt to most environments. However, terriers in general are extremely active. Cairn’s originated in the Scottish Highlands and are recognized as one of Scotland's earliest working dogs. The breed was given the name Cairn because the breed's function was to hunt and chase in the quarries (mining pits) between the cairns in the Scottish Highlands. Bayla digs quite incessantly, be it dirt or furniture.
Wizard of Oz
If you have seen the movie The Wizard of Oz, you've seen one of the most famous Cairn Terriers ever. But, they can be cream colored as well.
From the Pound
Bayla was acquired at 3 months & 6lbs from someone her mom worked with. Originally adopted from the pound, her owner decided Bayla was too much for her, so a new mom took over and we are still together, 9 years later.
Best Friend for Life
In spite of her independent nature, Bayla is a sensitive dog. Her feelings are easily hurt, and she doesn't respond well to scolding or corrections. However, just offer a treat and she’s your best friend for life!!
Cairn Terriers
Cairn Terriers are very affectionate, particularly with children, and love to run, jump & play with them. Bayla plays with her brother, Bixby, chasing him around the house. She is definitely high energy and relishes her long walks every day. A barker for sure, you can hear her from any direction. Her biggest joy is chasing squirrels. She gets so close but never quite close enough!! ■

MEET RASCALS
What can be said, his name Rascals fits his personality? Born a feral kitten on St Patrick’s Day 2020 from a litter of five kittens, Rascals was one of three black kittens. As Rascals grew, he was always the frisky one of the litter. Playing with his other brother and sister and getting into all kinds of mischief.
Could Not Find a Home
Rascals was one of the last two kittens that his potential owner could not find a home. Rascals followed his mom Kit Cat, and brother, Whiskers, around his local neighborhood at the owner’s previous home in Garden Grove, as a feral for a year and two months. The family of three cats kept coming around mornings and evenings to be fed.
Adopting an Owner
The soon-to-be owner kepts playing with Rascals along with his brother and mom during these feeding times. One day Rascals, after a playtime, came and laid down on his potential owner’s lap. The owner finally knew it was time, and brought Rascals in, bathed him, and from then on, Rascals became a domesticated cat. Rascals and the owner’s other cat, Dazzle, moved to Harbour Vista in March this year alog with big sister cat Dazzle.
Inquisitive
Rascals is very inquisitive and wants to be in everything. He is very playful and loves his toys. The owner recently had a group of friends over for some square dancing, and Rascals was under foot at the beginning of each time they got up to dance; he even laid down and dared the guests to dance around him. All of the guests could not believe that Rascals was once feral because he was too friendly for a cat.
Dog and Cats Mixed Family
Rascals’ lives with his adopted big sister cat Dazzle and they have become incredibly good friends. To the owner, the cats are his family and Rascals has become his best friend. ■

Stitch, the New Addition:
Let’s get acquainted with Stitch. The newest resident to the Cabana building . He is an energetic, 6 month old, French Bulldog that recently became a part of the Harbour Vista community. His cute face, perky personality and talkative bark will have you hooked. He hasn’t met a person he didn’t like and has already made friends with his neighbor Chanel. He loves to race around the living room with his favorite chew toy playing keep away. When he’s not expending energy, he enjoys long slumbers in his crate snoring almost as loud as his owner.
Puppy Hood
As most all puppies, Stitch is in his destructive stage and chewing everything in site. Teething toys and bones can be found in every room. He has now learned to
wrestle a rope toy. His owner’s will be tasked with burning off some of his energy to help with training. Potty training is going surprisingly well with Stitch and he seems to understand his role. 😊 Hopefully puppy hood will be good to both Stitch and his owners and their young son. He is adapting to his new surroundings extremely well and seems quite comfortable with our beautiful community.
Come Say Hi!
If you see Stitch and his owners outside, come by and say hi! He promises to behave and play nice with others. You should hear this little guy snort like a little piglet. ■
